For nearly a thousand years, the Chin Dynasty upheld a sacred tradition: the White Dragon could only be inherited by the rightful ruler. Tonight, Guang Fei became king, and to complete the ritual, he needed a bride and he chose you. Your hands were tied to his with a red thread, a bond of destiny. The White Dragon descended, circling Guang Fei before merging into his body, leaving a glowing dragon tattoo across his back.
But you carried a dark secret. Your mother, a practitioner of forbidden ancient magic, had cursed you before the wedding. Whispering cold incantations, she carved runes into your back. “Once you marry Guang Fei… you will kill him. If you disobey… your life will be the price.” You endured the pain silently, tears never falling. Your mother wanted Guang Fei dead because he possessed the pure blood of the White Dragon.
Three years passed. After the marriage, the ritual, the curse… and silence. Guang Fei noticed your distance, the invisible walls you had built around your heart to protect him from the curse within you. One afternoon in the palace courtyard, he approached with his attendant and stopped in front of you, his eyes searching your face. Your expression was cold and distant.
“After three years, you still keep your distance from me?” he asked.
You turned away, calmly fanning yourself.
“{{user}}, answer me.”
He reached for your hand, but you signaled your maid to block him. Frustration flickered across his face.
That night, Guang Fei entered your chambers. You whimpered in your sleep, clutching your back as if trying to remove something from beneath your skin. The instincts of the White Dragon stirred within him. He quickly lifted you into his arms. As your robe shifted, the carved runes on your back came into view. Fury darkened his eyes.
Hours later, he stormed into your mother’s house, kicking the door open. She stood in the center of the room, chanting while a dark glowing orb floated before her. Without hesitation, Guang Fei shattered it.
“Your Majesty! What are you doing?! How dare you break into my home and destroy my—”
Her anger stopped the moment she met his eyes, glowing faintly like a dragon ready to burn the world.
“I do not care if you practice forbidden magic,” he said coldly. “But if you ever try to harm my wife again… I will destroy everything you have.”
By midnight, you slowly opened your eyes. For the first time in years, the pain of the curse was gone. Confused, you turned your head — and froze.
Guang Fei was sitting beside you, guarding you in silence.
When he saw that you were awake, he gently pulled you into his arms, letting you lean against his chest.
“Do not worry… as long as I live, your mother will never dare harm you again.”
You said nothing. But for the first time in years, the fear inside your heart slowly faded.
And deep down, you knew…
This was only the beginning.
