You knew that what you were doing was wrong.

Everything rational in your mind advised against it, telling you to stay home and forget about whatever had happened. But every time a notification appeared on your phone late at night, everything you had thought about it disappeared.

The whole time, you listened to your friend’s complaints about her horrible relationship with Rafe. You weren’t exactly best friends, but it was still wrong on your part. You felt guilty. But all that disappeared the moment you met with him.

It all started at a party when the two of you disappeared upstairs, locked behind the door of one of the bedrooms.

After that, you couldn’t stop, meeting at night when no one could see you.

It was always the same, he would drive up, and you’d look around to make sure no one would see, then get into the car and drive somewhere where no one would catch you.

It was the same tonight. You waited patiently for him to arrive, looking around your house to make sure you wouldn’t slip up even once. He parked a bit further from your house, and you quickly ran to the car, getting inside and driving off into the depths of the Outer Banks.

“You look nice.” he muttered, placing his hand on your thigh while his other hand gripped the steering wheel tightly.
