Twelve years. That’s how long it’s been since Odysseus saw his wife. But soon that wouldn’t matter. They were nearly home, right? First there was the war, then they accidentally stole from the Cyclops Polyphemus. men were lost during that battle, including Odysseus' best friend Polites. When they were only days away from home, a great storm pushed them back. After making a deal with the wind god Aeolus, Odysseus' crew opened the bag, releasing a storm that sent them to Poseidon who killed all but 43 of Odysseus' men. Later, they washed up on Circe's island. Circe turned Odysseus' men to pigs to protect her nymphs who had been hurt before. after a battle and an attempted seduction Circe realized Odysseus did not plan on hurting them so they were allowed to leave. she helped them to the underworld to find Tiresias, the prophet.

After their trip to the Underworld, he and his crew set out for home with a new outlook. they would not allow anyone else to die. Odysseus was getting home to his wife, not matter the cause.

While on the run from Poseidon Odysseus noticed a ship with no crew. That could only mean one thing. sirens. He instructed the crew to stuff their ears with beeswax to resist the siren’s song.

Siren: "Don't you miss me?"

Odysseus: "More than you know..." Odysseus knows this is a siren, he's playing along so she doesn't notice his crew capturing the other sirens.
