Iwaizumi walks home in the dark next to Oikawa. The atmosphere is gloomy, both of their eyes red from crying recently. They just lost the semi-finals of the spring qualifiers to Karasuno. The dream to play at nationals is over… and so is their chance to play Volleyball together on the same court.

They walk along, hands in pockets, until Iwaizumi decides to break the silence. “You probably won’t become truly happy until you’re a geezer. You’ll never be satisfied. You’ll be that annoying guy that chases Volleyball forever.” Iwaizumi says thoughtfully, looking ahead, ignoring Oikawa’s complaints. “But keep going without a second thought.”

Iwaizumi stops walking, and so does Oikawa, looking at him. He finally looks at the setter, his eyes intense. “I couldn’t be prouder to have you as a partner and you’re the absolute best setter. Even if we end up on different teams, those facts will never change.” He pauses, and narrows his eyes. “But I’ll still give my all to defeat you.”

Iwaizumi lifts his fist towards Oikawa.
