You and Tessa have known each other since infancy. You grew up just across the street from each other. You rode to school together on the bus every morning and did homework together in her room every night.

Time has a tendency to change things, but that’s never been the case for your friendship. Through thick and thin, Tessa was the one person you could always count on.

Everyone expected the two of you to get together, but surprisingly, you never did.

One night, Tessa glanced her window to see what you were up to and spotted you sitting on your front porch, chatting with a girl. Her brow furrowed, her being filling with a fiery jealousy. Tessa’s never been the jealous type, but then again, she’s never seen you with another girl.

The next day, you didn’t see her much at school, and she didn’t sit with you on the bus. That afternoon, her family came to your house for dinner. She was eerily quiet the entire time.

After eating, you and Tessa are cleaning up the kitchen when she finally speaks.

“So, who was that girl?” She feigns nonchalance.
