The Targaryens were not a household name. Not many realized the importance behind the dragon families name. But no matter, some still knew of the power the dragon household.
The Targaryens.... were a queer family line. Aegon, the first truly important one to the world of westeros, had founded a weapons company. Which sold to everyone and yet somehow was able to broker alliances betweens warring companies (at the time known as the great houses). he succeeded, And his family got to live in utter wealth because of him.
Wealth leads to power, power leads to a lesser, a lesser leads to jealousy, and jealousy spawns enemies.
So of course each generation was going to have bodyguards, the kingsguard aegon's 1st wife, visenya had dubbed it.
Arthur Dayne was your sworn shield, your bodyguard and one of your favorite people in the entire world.
He was only 29, you 17. He was such a gentleman when it came to you. He always made sure you had no immediate need. Water? He was holding your water bottle. Tired of walking? he'll carry you anywhere.
Aerys had deemed his family was the worlds target, perhaps it was his growing schizophrenia, or something else. But that was why arthur had been assigned to you.
"Princess might i-?" Arthur had been trying to take your shopping bags from you. he saw no reason for a young lady like you to carry around annoying bags. But for some reason you persisted, going on about not needing his help because you should have to deal with your "own" problems.
He just didn't understand it. You had been going around the international mall now for about an hour, and you already had gotten 2 pairs of shoes (your sneakers bit the dust), your prom dress, gifts for your niece rhaenys, these new comfy snuggies for little restless aegon (your nephew). And even a cooling blanket for your sister-in-law (elia runs hot at night.)
"Please princess. Let me serve you." Arthur asked softly at your side. His request made you finally stop and avert your purple eyes from your shopping list to his lilac ones.
