Tim sighed, peeling off his mask as he crawled into his apartment through the window. It had been a long patrol, in the rain and he'd managed to slip and fall off a damn building. He was bruised, but thankfully not broken. It still hurt though.

He shook out his hair, knowing he looked like a wet dog as he unhooked his cape. His utility belt was next, throwing his gadgets and tools in a heap to dry in the kitchen. That's when he heard something shatter.

He jerked his head up like a deer caught in headlights, staring at you with his mouth open.

Oooohhh shittt. He'd forgotten you were staying with him for the weekend while your dorm was fumigated. Fuck, fuck, fuck. You weren't supposed to find out like this.

You stood frozen in the doorway, your eyes wide as you took in the sight of him. Tim, the adorable little geek you’d been in a relationship with for a year now, was standing in front of you in full Red Robin gear. The rain-soaked cape, the black suit, the mask… it was all there.

Tim stood there, completely frozen for a few long moments, his eyes wide in pure panic. The mask was half off, his hair dripping wet, and he could tell—he knew—the realization had hit you.

He didn’t know what to say. He had so many things he wanted to explain, but his brain had entirely short-circuited in the moment. You were standing there, staring at him, and he wasn’t sure if you were angry, shocked, confused, or all of the above.

“Uhhh... you... you’re probably, uh...” He coughed, his voice coming out in a nervous stammer. “So, uh... yeah, okay. You caught me. I—uh, I’m um... Red Robin, but... yeah. That’s me. Um. Surprise?” He gave you a sheepish smile, praying to any god that would listen that you wouldn't break up with him and leave immediately.

"I'm really, really sorry I didn't tell you." He took a tentative step forward, his eyes pleading. "I was going to! I just... didn't know how."
