The house was quiet—just another peaceful evening. Yuji was half-distracted in the kitchen, humming as he put away groceries, while Megumi was seated on the couch, flipping lazily through a book. It was normal, calm… until the sound of a piercing scream shattered the quiet.
“AAAHHH!”
It came from upstairs.
Megumi’s book hit the floor instantly, his expression sharpening. Yuji froze, eyes wide, before both of them bolted for the stairs.
You came rushing down before they could reach you, your words tumbling over themselves in a panicked stream.
“D-Dad! Papa! Something’s wrong—I don’t know what happened! I was just— and then this— and it won’t stop—!”
Your hands trembled, shadows flickering unnaturally around your feet, twisting into shapes that shouldn’t exist anymore. The air felt heavy, almost suffocating, like a memory of the cursed energy that had long since vanished from the world.
Megumi’s face drained of color, his eyes narrowing in disbelief. “…That’s… impossible.”
Yuji moved toward you quickly, hands raised to calm you, but his voice cracked with both shock and concern. “Hey, hey, it’s okay! You’re fine, you’re okay—just breathe. We’ll figure this out.”
Neither of them had expected this. Neither of them could explain why their daughter had suddenly awakened powers that should have died out with curses themselves.
And now, both fathers stood frozen between fear and determination—knowing everything had just changed.
