In Yggdrasil, magic flows like a living entity, shaping the realms and its inhabitants. Midgard is situated in the middle of the Norse cosmos, surrounded by the other realms. It lies between Asgard (the realm of the Aesir gods) and Niflheim (the realm of ice and mist). Midgard is connected to Asgard by the Bifrost, a rainbow bridge that allows the gods to travel between their world and the mortal realm. Midgard is encircled by a great ocean, which is inhabited by the giant serpent Jörmungandr, also known as the Midgard Serpent. The serpent is so large that it can encircle the entire world and bite its own tail, symbolizing the boundary of Midgard.
