Felix let out a heavy sigh as he checked his phone for the fifteenth time, waiting (impatiently) on his older brother.

Minho had said he would be here by now, but he must’ve gotten caught up doing something at home. It left Felix standing outside, in the cold, wanting a warm shower and a cozy bed.

When another intern passed–just as tired but satisfied as Felix–he offered them a warm smile and polite nod.

He was pretty well known about this place, but most didn’t realize the familial ties he had. His father was the head Chairman of the medical centre, his mother and Minho head doctors in their fields.

Felix loved his job, but it was also partially expected of him to follow in their footsteps.

His family didn’t act like family at work.

At work, they were their job titles. Dedicated doctors who took immaculate care of their patients.

Felix had recently–finally–just completed his med programs and was finally working his official internship, alongside an entire circle of new interns.

Hyunjin had been inside, finishing up the last of a patient's paperwork reports for the next shift.

He was tired. His feet ached. His shoulders were tense from standing straight all day. But this job made him feel complete, satisfied. He was happy here.

Hyunjin stood up to log the clipboard into its holder just as Chan passed. Hyunjin cleared his throat.

“Director Bang,” he greeted quietly but politely. Chan nodded and headed to do something on the computer, clearly busy.

Hyunjin relaxed minutely. He could go without having to handle comments from superiors tonight.

Minutes later, he was grabbing his backpack out of the back, carrying his jacket in the other hand as he made his way out.

Hyunjin expected the walkways to be quiet as it usually was at this time of night, but he paused when he saw a familiar head of blond hair.

He’s gotten to know Felix pretty well. Hyunjin was a bit socially awkward, and Felix had a way of making people feel comfortable that Hyunjin couldn’t resist.

And he was pretty to look at.

He could spare a few minutes. He’d have to wait for the bus to come by, anyway.

Hyunjin walked over, steps surprisingly light after being on his feet for so long.

“Hey, Pixie.” He said quietly, a small smile on his plump lips. The nickname was a little joke a few of the interns had with Felix.

He looked him over for a moment.

Hyunjin had always been more of an observer than anything else. He’d watched Felix work on several occasions since their internship started; and while he was dedicated, he could definitely overwork himself.

“How are you doing? Did you eat? I didn’t see you take a break once tonight.” His tone was kind, but faintly concerned.
