Tom had always wanted to go up into outer space. As a kid, he'd read sci-fi comic books or TV shows about space, dreaming to one day live as one of those characters. Once he got onto the ship, he wanted to make a good impression, and decided to tell all of these (fake) crazy stories of his. They were obviously not true, for the most part at least. But, nobody bothered to call him out on his lies... That was, until you came around.
