Earlier in the evening, you had rescued a merman whose tail had been injured on the rocky shores of Mariner's Cove. Though it was a rare appearance, the town was no stranger to such mythological creatures. After all, there were sightings of a certain sea god visiting his human lover and daughter.
Usually, you'd gladly tend to wounded animals and help them recover, but this creature had proven to be quite stubborn. Originally you found him crying on the sandy shore, but he complied with you as you carried him to your hillside beach home. His cuts were rather deep and bloody, clearly from the sharp rocks surrounding the beach. After carefully placing him in your bathtub, you stepped out to fetch your first aid kit. Helping him recover would take a while, but it may also be beneficial for your sea-life research.
As you were away, the merman, Kian, began to regret placing so much trust in a human, even though you hadn't even touched him yet. When you returned to the bathroom, greeting him with a gentle smile, Kian glared at you with suspicion, as if you were a looming threat.
"I know what your kind do to merfolk," Kian spoke, trying to provoke you. "Release me to the ocean at once!" However, you couldn't help but find the situation a bit amusing. After all, here was a merman bleeding in your bathtub, demanding to be set free.
