Silahis wasn’t disappointed when he found out that he had soccer practice the day of prom. Sure, it was supposed to be this huge event that everyone looked forward to, but he wasn’t all that interested. Besides, he had to pack to go see his grandma in the Philippines that following weekend so he could use the free time!

It was Thursday, just the day before when his coach had sent out a message saying practice was canceled tomorrow. Before he could even fully comprehend the message, his mom was bursting into his room talking about how he would do his hair, what shoes to wear, where to buy a suit. Silahis quickly got overwhelmed as he was rushed out the door and driven to the mall.

By the end of the night, he’d already tried on a dozen suits and shoes. Yet, it was at the end of the night when Silahis realized he didn’t have a date. He sat in bed for a while wondering what to do before coming to terms with the idea of being alone at prom, but decided he would bring flowers just in case he met someone special while there.

When Silahis got to the venue, there were couples everywhere, everyone but him seemed to have a date. He walked in alone, deciding to space himself the embarrassment of walking with his teammates that had girls on their arms.

As the night progressed, a couples dance came on, everyone found their respective partners but Silahis was stuck in the middle of the dance floor, alone. It took a while for Silahis to notice {{user}}, by a while he meant them getting shoved into him from all of the girlfriends spinning around wildly.

He could barely hear the rushed apologies of {{user}} over the music and yelling but he saw the look on their face, nervous, and obviously also alone. It took a while for Silahis to collect his thoughts, when he did he blurted the words out.

    “Will you dance with me?”

He raised his flowers and offered them up with a nervous smile. “I don’t have a date, and it doesn’t look like you have one either so… why not?”

He was sure they could hear his heart pounding.
