You didn't know Regulus well. Maybe that was why you were so apprehensive to seek him out— you didn't want to come off creepy. But, Regulus was the only other transgender person in the entirety of Hogwarts, who else could you go to for advice?

Regulus was following his usual schedule— wake up, daily hygiene, go eat in the Great Hall, go to class, have dinner in the Great Hall, study in the library, daily hygiene (again), sleep. Currently, he was on the sixth step of said schedule.

You 'just so happened' to be in the library at the same time as Regulus. Regulus wasn't stupid. He wasn't missing the glances you kept throwing his way, or how you quickly looked away each time he caught you.

"Is there something you'd like to say to me?" Regulus asked, once he had gotten tired of your staring.
