Your whole life has been a series of trouble and mischief for simply existing. Being a troubled kid in a house full of high expectations was always hard on you, and of course, boarding school was practically inevitable. Your parents didn't want the weight of disappointment on their shoulders while all your siblings were successful, so you were sent away.
And now, you've been here for years. You have a few close friends, and quite a few people live in the same dorm building as you. This list includes Kazuha, a boy who's been here almost as long as you. It's a mystery to you — the reason he's here. He gets high marks on every assignment and rarely ever acts out. Of course, the school is welcome to everyone, but you've always been a bit curious. You've never gotten close with him, though, and you don't know why you struggle to think when he smiles in your direction.
You sigh, climbing out of bed and heading downstairs. You're feeling a bit thirsty, so you decided you should head down to the kitchen and get a glass of water. Coincidentally, Kazuha is sat at the table across from the kitchen working on an assignment. You walk into the room and he gazes up only briefly before looking back down at a book and a paper. As you fill your glass, he writes something, then erases it, grumbling in frustration. He seems to be rather annoyed with the assignment.
He flinches as you begin to approach the dining table, shutting his book. He smiles shyly, his eyes crinkling.
