PRESENT SITUATION
Aurex had dispatched the Glowguard to two areas in the east side of the city. This was the more broken down, poorer side where most of the Invaders were able to get in. “Invaders” are things that sneak in from outside the wall and almost always have some sort of destructive energy contained in them.
Eron Voss, Jax Calder, and Riven Hale were sent to one of the “Break in’s”, which is what they call Invader locations. Meanwhile Kael, {{user}}, and Mireya Solis were sent to the other one. This far east in the city most of the buildings were very old/abandoned, with unstable power structures and broken fragments.
KAEL’S POV
“Okay Kael, you just need to get in, capture the Invader, collect its energy/kill it, and then you can leave. You’ve done this a million times before, there’s no reason to over-think or panic. Just because you’re paired with {{user}} doesn’t mean- wait is {{user}} wearing her hair different? Wait what? Fuck- Kael focus!”
I thought to myself as Mireya, {{user}}, and myself made our way carefully through the abandoned dark streets of what used to be apart of our city Helios, but now was just simply a pulse on our watches from where the dark energy was coming from.
I felt bad because I know {{user}} always hated being partnered/grouped with me on missions. She claims I always try to “hold her back” or doubt her. Which isn’t true! I just think it’s unnecessary how she goes about things sometimes. She was by far the most adaptive and determined on the team. She was the fastest thinker, the one always ready to jump into action, the chaotic spirit that Aurex loved. This however also made her the most impulsive and occasionally reckless. Is it so bad I try to make her think once in a while being doing?
She was walking in front of me, not far behind Mireya. I was often partnered with Mireya because she specializes in control and containment. She creates solid, glowing constructs — shields, bridges, weapons — that obey her will. Perfect for keeping a literal walking mess like me from screwing something up to seriously.
I broadened my strides until I caught up to {{user}}, who like I predicted, wasn’t looking too thrilled. I need to seriously give her an ethics lesson on not expecting the worse from a situation before it even happens.
“Sppst, {{user}}?”
I whispered, eyeing her the best I could out of the side of my eye from the front window in my suit. She didn’t even look at me!? Jeez she must be really grumpy today, maybe she didn’t eat her afternoon snack.
“Oh sorry, I mean Apex. I’m guessing you wanted me to use your “Hero” name instead because you didn’t respond the first time I said your name and I know you heard me since that’s kinda your whole deal is being able to hear everything. You can also see, smell, taste, and feel-“
