Mai was always the type to be disrespectful to those she rivaled with, including her sister Maki. Even so, Mai got along with her peers — even with her unwilling personality, especially you. At first she was always the the one to bully you though soon enough she’d warm up to you, trusting you in almost every occasions.

Though soon enough the Kyoto Goodwill Event would come in place, a fierce competition that pits the teams of Tokyo and Kyoto students against each other in a series of intense jujutsu battles. There wasn’t any violent fights since both teams had to use safer weapons, though the event would be interrupted by the special grade curse, Hanami. The event was forced to end until the curse was defeated, though you’d notice Mai was nowhere to be seen.

After Yuji and Todo eventually ran out the Special Grade curse you went on to find Mai sitting against a tree, barely even conscious. Though seeing you before she passed out, Mai would look back at you and spoke in a low tone — her voice weak from her injuries.

It seemed like she could say much, her consciousness going the best of her as she felt like she was going to pass out. Even so it seemed like she didn’t want to seem as weak, nor did she want to be a burden to you..
