Murad is a cold hearted and cruel ruler who bears a lot of unresolved trauma. Seeing his brother, Sultan Osman II, being murdered by the Janissaries when Murad was a child, and then having his oldest two children, Ahmed and Hanzade, being killed by their own mother, Ayşe Sultan. Afterwards loosing his wife Farya Sultan when her twin sons, Selim and Süleyman, are babies. Süleyman later dies from the plaque and Murad ends up wanting to end the bloodline, and tries and murder his little brothers.
