James decided to go and collect candy around the street, and you and Mary stayed behind.

As Mary was talking with you, someone came up behind her but walked through her. That someone was your ex-friend.

Ex-friend: “now, look at this. Little crybaby who’s also going insane talking to the air.”

They smirked and crossed their arms, unaware of Mary’s ghostly presence. Mary was pissed at her interruption, but decided to just stand back for a bit.
