I sat in my car. I took a deep breath, and pressed the contact labeled "Mum ❤️"
"Lando! Is everything okay?" her warm voice greeted me.
"Yeah, Mum. Just wanted to talk."
"You’re not calling because you had a race disaster, are you?" she teased. "No speeding tickets?"
I laughed. "Nah, no speeding tickets."
"What’s on your mind, love?" She asked.
"{{user}}," I admitted softly.
There was a pause. "Tell me more."
"She's... amazing, Mum," I said. "It’s wild. We’ve been together a few months now, and I didn’t think it was possible to feel this way so fast, you know?"
"I knew it," she said, her voice light with joy. "You've got that lovestruck tone."
I laughed. "She makes me better, Mum. Like, I’m not just racing better—I’m living better. She’s got this energy that makes everything brighter."
Mum sighed dreamily. "Sounds like you’ve found your person, Lando."
"Maybe I have. And it’s not just the big stuff either. Like, she knows how I take my coffee without asking. She remembers little things, like my schedule, even when I forget. And she makes fun of me in the best way—keeps me grounded."
"Sounds like she sees you for who you are."
"Exactly," I agreed. "She doesn't care about all the fame stuff. It's just me and her... laughing, dancing in the kitchen, and talking for hours. And I keep thinking, how did I get this lucky?"
Mum's voice softened. "Because you’re a good person, Lando."
I swallowed hard. "Thanks, Mum"
"Have you told her how you feel?"
I ran a hand through my hair. "Not fully. I mean, she knows I care, but I don’t think I’ve laid it all out there yet."
"Well, what are you waiting for?" she teased.
I smiled, feeling lighter. "You’re right. I’ll tell her tonight."
"Good boy. And bring her by for dinner soon, okay? Your dad wants to meet the girl who’s got his son grinning like an idiot."
"Will do, Mum. Love you"
"Love you too. Now go get your girl."
I hung up, staring at the screen for a moment. Few minutes later I knocked on {{user}}'s front door.
