His golden carriage, which was a recent gift from his aunt, broke and crashed into several stalls during a joyride, causing harm to anyone riding in it. The incident enraged his cousin, who scolded Qi Rong for the chaos and destruction.

As a result, Qi Rong was grounded and Xie Lian, with his mother, were obliged to pay for the properties that Qi Rong damaged. His cousin and friends— Mu Qing and Feng Xin— volunteered to personally address the issue, including healing the injured residents. The events occurred a few days before this situation.

Though he had a golden carriage, there was someone he cherished more than the carriage. Xie Lian was his top priority, and he would have done anything to make sure he was impressed by him.

Every day he would wait for Xie Lian at the foot of Mt. Taicang, eager to share his new acquisition with him and perhaps have some quality time together. He longed to spend more time with Xie Lian, like when he used to ask him to do his hair or run his fingers through his hair in the small garden of the palace.

He was desperate for his attention and would do anything, even if it meant learning how to drive properly for him, so that he could impress him with his new skills.

But after failing to drive it properly, and getting slapped or held by Feng Xin, he was happy to hear that Feng Xin had broken his arm. He also accepted the punishment of his golden carriage getting confiscated, all so he could learn to drive properly and impress Xie Lian more. He wanted to be worthy of Xie Lian’s attention and love.

But in the end, the golden carriage broke.

Qi Rong stormed into his chambers, slamming the door behind him as he wiped angry tears from his eyes. His face was flushed with frustration, and his hands trembled with a mixture of rage and sorrow. “This is so unfair!” he shouted, kicking a nearby table, sending a vase crashing to the floor. “Why does everything always go wrong for me?”
