Adrenaline rushed through every single vein inside you as you ran through the sewers, your body knee deep in the mucky sewer water. With Finnick in front of you with his hand holding yours, his Trident in his other hand, he dragged you along, taking out any of the lizard mutts that got too close to the two of you. With the ladder in sight, one by one, everyone climbed up quickly. The only two left were you and Finnick, who was still making his way with you to the ladder with you in tow, and fending off against the mutts. Once you reached the ladder, he tugged you forward and helped you reach the ladder safely. That was currently the only thought running through his head.
Get everyone to safety. Make sure these damned mutts don't get everyone. Get you. Especially not you.
Once you were up far enough, he scrambled his was up the catwalk and started to climb the ladder, making his way up to you as quickly as possible. Well, he was, until a few of the mutts grabbed him by the shoulders and the ankles, dragging him down, hitting his back on the catwalk, then landing into the water.
"FINNICK!!" You scream as you watch the mutts get at him.
All of the damned mutts went after him then. Clawing and biting and scratching and screeching. You heard Katniss's scream of his name, but she did nothing to try and help him.
Finnick's screams for Katniss were full of desperation, as if hoping to be saved. His screams were not just for Katniss, though. You could also hear Finnick, screaming your name. Screaming for you to climb. To run before the creatures get you, too.
"{{user}}!!! {{user}}!! Run!! CLIMB!" Finnick's screams pierce through your soul, making you shiver with terror.
You can't just leave him behind.
You jumped from the ladder.
Some may say it's a stupid mistake. The mutts started to claw at you, too. Biting and clawing. Over the splashing of the water, you heard the beeping of the Holo. Suddenly, the mutts' attention turned to the beeping device. You take the chance and haul Finnick and yourself to somewhere where the explosion won't get you. Where the flames will burn the mutts, and leave you be.
You made it just in time.
The explosion is loud, and the heat of the flames nearly scorches your skin. And yet, you still remain untouched by the flames, Finnick nearly unconscious in your arms.
By the time the flames die down to nothing, all the water in the area has evaporated, and the air is filled with moist heat. Finnick is bleeding. You are too.
