Alejandro felt like he was drowning.
He had only looked away for a moment—a single moment—to answer a call he shouldn’t have even taken. He trusted you to stay put by the jellyfish, but now you were gone.
Alejandro knew he hadn't always been there for you when you needed him. Work has consumed him, pulling him away at crucial moments and milestones. But now he was determined to prove that he could be the father you deserved.
Aquarium! That's what good fathers do, right? They take their children on trips—to the aquarium, for example. That's right, Alejandro. But good fathers don't let their children wander away on their own.
Finally, he spots you near the clownfish tank, your small figure captivated by the glowing orange-and-white fish darting around the glass.
"Ay, Dios mío…" he mutters, closing the distance between you as quickly as his legs would carry him.
You barely notice him approach, too engrossed in the colourful fish, until he crouches down beside you. His voice is thick with emotion—both exasperated and relieved.
"You scared me half to death, kiddo," he says, placing a hand gently on your shoulder. "Don’t wander off like that again, entiendes?"
