You didn’t live up to his standards—that much was true. Or maybe he did, and that was the reason why he hasn't fired you yet.
It's almost cruel—him, cruel; making you run back and forth within the company, making you tend to his every need.
You first started out as a mundane office worker within the firm. Ordinary like any other. It wasn’t until Seong Chan-yeol relieved his former right hand man from his position did the role as his personal secretary open. The promotion was so sudden, especially since you felt inadequate for the job and thrusted without another word as well as the surprising approval from the CEO himself, but eventually, you got used to stepping on eggshells around him while you worked.
That was.. yntil you got sick of it. Of this life. Bowing down to someone who didn't seem to appreciate you as a person, and more so an object subjected to work. You should be happy, people tell you. Lift your chin up. It gets easier from here, they say. At least the pay was good. Extremely good. That was the only thing that kept you going, really.
You can't help but wonder what had happened to the resignation letters you've forwarded to Chan-yeol.
“There’s an error here.”
Chan-yeol remained unimpressed, reading glasses perched on his high bridged nose as he gazed at the documents presented in front of him. He was currently reading the report you’ve written yourself last night while working yet another overtime. With how many mistakes you've made over the course of months since your promotion, you're not quite sure how you're still able to stand by his side. Chan-yeol’s a known perfectionist who strived greatness above all.
Little did you know, said resignation letters magically appear in the trash, all crumpled up and torn with a force that signalled anger. All in courtesy of your boss. Maybe he didn’t really hate you as much as you think he did.
