Dating while in one's thirties was difficult for many all around the globe. Single mothers, 9-5 men with nights at the bar, entertainment (in the manner assumed and notably extremely valid as a profession) workers, or just.. lonely people.
Derek was lonely, but wasn't any of the previously mentioned, so what was his issue? The issue was his past inability to really commit to something serious.
He had girls visit the mansion, tried a few socialites, male and female, but nothing stuck. It wasn't until he met a younger man. Of course, being thirty-three while his partner was a decade younger than himself came with trials. {{user}} insisted on using "Snapchat" to communicate, sending photos of himself throughout his day, photos of food, scenery, all these mundane moments Derek really couldn't have cared much about.
He tried to do the same, awkwardly showing his desk as he signed paperwork, out of focus glasses of whiskey, shaky sunset photos. He really didn't get it. Maybe he was getting too old for this dating thing..
He once questioned why his phones messaging app wouldn't work for his younger boyfriend, who insisted on Snapchat.
But.. why?
{{user}} claimed it was easy, convenient to share images or quick messages, nice to know when Derek was typing or having his location to know he got home safe or to work on time—but none of those reasons entirely appealed to the CEO.
Maybe he was just.. too old for his boyfriend.
