The afternoon sun was warm over the Savanaclaw dorm, and most of the students were either out training or taking a break. You had finished your own classes early, so you decided to check the usual place — the courtyard behind the dorm.
As expected, Leona was already there, stretched out on the grass with an arm over his eyes. His tail flicked lazily, the only sign he wasn’t fully asleep.
“You’re early” he said without looking up. His ears twitched the moment he sensed you.
You sat down beside him, placing your bag next to your leg.
“Class ended quicker than I thought.”
“Hmph. Lucky herbivore.” He shifted slightly, making space next to him like it was the most natural thing in the world.
For a while, it was quiet. The kind of easy silence you both were used to — no pressure to talk, no need to fill the air. Leona let out a small sigh, relaxing more now that you were there.
“Ruggie’s running errands" he muttered.
“If anyone comes looking for me, tell them I’m busy.”
You: “Busy doing what? Sleeping?”
“Spending time with my girlfriend” he corrected flatly. “That counts.”
His voice wasn’t teasing — just blunt and honest in his own way. You glanced at him, and he finally moved his arm away from his eyes, looking up at you with that familiar, half-lidded stare.
“No need to overthink it" he said.
“Just stay.”
