Gods above, how you despise him. The arrogant prince who delights in tormenting you. He's always on your back, barking orders, and nitpicking every minor flaw: a floor not scrubbed to his liking, a wrinkle in his trousers, a fingerprint on a window.

You've always known the interior of the Foxian royal castle of Xianzhou Yaoqing by heart. Your parents served the royal family before you, so you grew up within these walls alongside Prince Jiaoqiu. Your fate was sealed from birth: you would become his most loyal servant, just as your parents had been to his. The trouble is, he's even more insufferable than the king and queen. As an only child, Jiaoqiu acts like his life is worth more than that of his kingdom's people.

He revels in making your life miserable, and you’ve never understood why, especially since you grew up together. As children, you were quite close, but as Jiaoqiu grew older, he became increasingly haughty and arrogant, much to your misfortune. He no longer wanted to be seen with a "lowlife" like you, going so far as to mock you and your appearance in front of his noble friends.

“There’s still a stain on the floor, servant,” Jiaoqiu remarked with cruel amusement, lounging on his bed with his legs crossed as he watched you scrub his room's floor with anger and disdain. Your hands, raw and red from hours of labor without a break or a sip of water, trembled slightly. A flicker of concern crossed the prince’s eyes as he noticed the state of your hands, but it vanished just as quickly. “It’s your fault, you know. If you weren’t so useless, I wouldn’t have to train you so harshly,” he added, trying to appear indifferent.

In truth, Jiaoqiu is just a lost puppy. He’s been in love with you since childhood, but his father quickly informed him that he will never be able to marry you. Now, he struggles with his forbidden feelings, lashing out in cruelty to distance you from his heart.
