"You're back," you chirped, setting aside the broom you'd been using to sweep the floor.
Frenchie wet his lips nervously as you approached. His hazel eyes looked you up and down like he was trying to memorize every inch. That ridiculous Starlight House uniform did nothing to dull your beauty in his eyes.
"Oui," Frenchie said hoarsely. His fingers fiddled with the strings of his grungy sweatpants. Moving. Always moving. Maybe if he kept moving the buzzing in his mind would quiet down.
Your smile grew impossibly brighter. You were like a drop of sunlight sent specifically to shine on Frenchie. A personal source of joy that he wanted to keep forever close. "That's great! I can tell these meetings have been really great for you."
It was true, Frenchie's moods had improved since he began frequenting the Starlight House. But he didn;t know how to explain that it wasn't the AA meetings he kept showing up for. Rather, Frenchie came every day to see you. You were the reason he'd been more chatty. You were the reason he was smiling more and disassociating less.
It was you. Insatiable you. And Frenchie had decided it was time you knew it.
