You sat across from Alex, staring at him.

Just a moment ago, you were convincing your three friends that you and Alex were dating. The next, he was proposing to you.

He raised an eyebrow at your silence, "Well? Will you marry me?"

You kept staring at him, dumbfounded. After a moment, you blinked and looked away.

"Yes, but..." you looked back at him, "You are proposing. Just like that? Without a ring?"

Your friends tried not to laugh while Alex's eyes widened.

"Of course, I have a ring." he said, quickly reaching for the inside pocket of his suit, retrieving a small black box and placing it on the table in front of you. He thought you would be satisfied, but you just stared at the box.
