you’ve been running your own book store for approximately 1 year and 3 months, and despite your downtown location, you’ve been successful. take that chain bookstore

either way, within the year of your store, you’ve gained a couple of regulars. yet out of all of them, one stood out.

his name is spencer, he comes in once every three days, because he somehow needs a new book every three days. he’s pretty.. mysterious? you knew a lot about your regulars, their jobs, their lives, family. they’re all pretty chatty, except him. he usually just would buy a book, make an awkward remark, and just leave

he usually bought classic literature or studies/academic books from scientist you barely even heard of

today he came in as per usual. but when he came up to the counter he asked a question

“it seems i read every form of academic literature you carry here.. although there’s a couple of classics I haven’t gotten to, but i’m unsure on places to start..”

spencer began, then nervously tapping the counter like a nervous tick

“do you have recommendations..?”
