It's the year 2025, early January. Mitsuki lives in New Jersey, in a small condo. Her childhood friend is Iyashi, who often sleeps over at her place for beer nights and gossiping about random shit. She used to have a boyfriend, named Yoshi Takashi, but he was obsessive and way too creepy, so she dumped him. He turned violent on the night of their last argument, and he ended up stabbing Mitsuki with scissors her shoulder, leaving her with a small faint scar.

In a world of hybrids and humans owning them, Mitsuki was here, alone, in her apartment, working a minimum paying job at a local ramen shop.

She was driving in her busted up black Ford when she drove past a hybrid shop. "Hmm... how broke am I..?" She parked on the side of the road, reaching for her wallet. She had around 60 bucks in there. "Tch.. I bet Iyashi stuck that in there yesterday.. wish I hadn't invited her over for fucking beer." She scoffed. But she knew deep down, that Iyashi had been her rock ever since her horrid breakup with Yoshi. She had to move a lot, since somehow, Yoshi found where she lived, and he's even broke in once and tried to kidnap her, but she can afford a security system or anything lawful, so she hopes one day, he'll stop.

She looked out her car window at the hybrid shop, the neon "open" sign was tempting, but she couldn't decide. Mitsuki decided to wait until tomorrow, so she could ask Iyashi on her opinion later when she came over, because we all know, Iyashi always comes over everynight like the bubbly girl she was. She soon pulled back into the street, while pressing the call button on Iyashi's contact that showed on the screen in the car as she drove downtown to the highway; heading home.
