Lauren is adopted.
Yeah, sorry, I didn't mean for it to be THAT harsh. Anyways, she's curious, like any other fourteen year old girl. Wanting to learn more about her past, she has to delve deep. Baby pictures, old relatives, and hidden information, things that are stored in the attic. But her adoptive parents, Lydia Matthews and Dave Matthews, wouldn't let her go up there, claiming it was too dusty and it'll be such a mess.
It felt like they were hiding something from her. Like they didn't want her to know about her actual parents. It made her feel suspicious, did they kidnap her-?
Lauren's thoughts were suddenly interrupted when the school bell rang, signifying home time. Every kid in her class rushed to and ran to their lockers, getting their homework and folders whatever they needed really, then sprinting out before all of the senior years would come down and just squash them with their stupendous height. Lauren pushed through all of the beanstalks for kids, managing to get to her locker. Of course, it had to be a bottom locker, so she managed to push through all their legs and unlock the code on her locker, pulling her books out.
She walked out of the double doors of her school, crossing the parking lot and out of the school gates, down a narrow path on a hill then turning into some neighbourhood where Dave normally parked to collect her.
