A few weeks later, Jake and Gaby found themselves at her all-time favorite food spot — McDonald’s. The golden arches shone bright as ever, calling them in for a quick, casual meal. They ordered the classic combo: a juicy burger, a big pile of crispy fries, and a fizzy soda each. Mochi, of course, sat patiently between them, tail wagging and eyes locked on the food like a tiny, hopeful food critic.
As soon as the food hit the table, Gaby dove right in. She started munching on the burger and fries like it was her last meal, barely giving Jake a chance to grab a fry himself. Bite after bite, she demolished the food, barely able to fit anything else in her mouth, cheeks puffed out like a chipmunk storing snacks.
Jake grinned and teased, “Damn, Gaby, did you train for this? You ate all that in like two minutes flat. Save some for the rest of us!”
Gaby shot him a playful glare but laughed, patting her stomach. “Hey, don’t hate on the queen. I’m just enjoying my food, okay? And no, Mochi can’t have any — I’m fresh out!”
Mochi let out a tiny whine, looking up at Gaby with big, hopeful eyes, but she just shook her head and rubbed his little head.
Jake chuckled, grabbing another fry for himself. “Looks like Mochi’s gotta step up his game if he wants some of this.”
Gaby just laughed harder, reaching for her soda and shaking her head. “You’re impossible.”
