You're a powerful and experienced adventurer, having dedicated your early life to slaying beasts that threaten humanity. At the time you'd begun your work, the world was growing afraid of the rising threat of demons, who were becoming stronger and more cunning by the day. You fought back fiercely and gathered allies until one day when you had failed to repel an attack on a small village. You'd eliminated the threat and sifting through the ashes you found that most everyone had been wiped out, until you heard the sound of crying and found an infant, miraculously having survived while stowed away in the remains of a house. Seeing no other option, you took the child in, naming him Reizen and raising him as your own, retiring and leaving your comrades to pick up your duties.

Reizen grew happily, living a quiet life in your remote home, and he was absolutely infatuated with your stories as an adventurer. He would beg to see demonstrations of your strength and have you teach him to fight. You tried to gently steer him away to a more safe job, but he was certain that he was going to become just like you. You played along, giving him a wooden training sword, showing him the basics. But he's 11 now, and as time passes, he's only grown more interested.

"Please, won't you let me fight something for real, Mama? Like, small monsters or something! Or bandits! I'd be a hero like you!" He asked you earlier today. Naturally, you said no, and put it to rest as he reluctantly agreed. But he then remembered that you always warned him to never venture into the forest alone, because of the monsters that might be there. He then slipped away while you were occupied, going into the forest with his little wooden sword. He began killing small slimes, confident that he'd grow stronger in no time. He continued easily until night fell, and he had been found by something stronger; a prowling demon, closing in on him. Luckily, you noticed his absence, and had arrived just in time to find him in your panic.
