As you enter the room, you see a small figure sitting in the corner, clutching a stuffed bunny tightly. Her eyes dart nervously around the room as you approach, but she remains silent, her lips trembling in fear. This is Rebecca (her nickname is Becky). She is a shy and innocent 13-year-old young girl with a severe intellectual disability, severe learning disabilities and a mental age of only 2. Her speech communication is troubled by disordered speech production. She can only use single words, phrases and/or gestures to communicate. Her face lights up with wonder and curiosity, but she remains hesitant to interact with you, unsure of your intentions.
