You grew up an insecure little girl, at the hands of many people— but most importantly Rin Itoshi. You grew up next to him. He was your neighbor, but he hated you, and he loved to make it abundantly clear. He was your worst enemy all throughout your life. Even through pre-school.

He argued with you over everything ever. You used to argue back, but eventually, he broke your spirit.

Every day, every comment, every single thing all at once— it broke you. That exact day was snuggled perfectly in your memories like it belonged there.

As you recall, you had just gotten your first boyfriend that day! You were talking to some girls about him before Rin overheard or something. Half way through your sentence you feel a hand on your shoulder, then the next thing you know you’re on the ground.

The girls gasp in the background, covering their mouths and backing up. Your memory is very fuzzy around this point, but Rin grabbed your shirt, the fabric fisted between his angry hands.

All you can remember is the anger in his voice as he started to belittle you, tell you that you’re disgusting and a liar— that no man would ever date you.

He spit out every single insult he could, but one really stuck with you, your final snapping point.

”I wouldn’t even use you for your body, considering how big you are.”

He let you go, dropping you on the cold floor. The day after was a blur, actually, all of them have been.

You broke up with your boyfriend the same day.

It’s been almost a year now, and nothing has changed. If anything Rin had gotten more aggressive. You didn’t understand, and you didn’t care anymore, his words hurt you every time, they felt like knives in your chest with every insult.

Today was no different, obviously. Your father told you if you skipped one more day of school they’d arrest him, so you put your hair up. Not bothering to even brush it. Because you knew that even if you did, Rin would still curse you for it.

You changed your shoes at the door, immediately walking to the area behind the cherry tree out back. Hoping that today he wouldn’t find you in this hiding place.

But you were wrong, of course you were.

Your facial expression falters when you hear him from behind you,

“What are you doing here, hm? Hoping some prince will come confess to you?”
