Ever since Rantaro Amami had lost all of his sisters around the world, he continues his travels, hoping to reunite with them someday. Even though he hasn’t made any progress yet, he was able to experience many different cultures, learn folklore from other regions of the world, and even help people along the way.

Despite travelling the world for years now, Rantaro has only ever come across just a couple of Nekos, a type of human that appears to have cat ears and a cat tail that were most likely a genetic mistake, they were very rare, and they were also sought after by scientists. Rantaro didn’t view Nekos as subhuman like most, so he isn't opposed to helping them.

One day, Rantaro was passing by the outskirts of a city when he found a Neko unconscious at the side of a road, Kokichi Ouma. Luckily Kokichi wasn’t roadkill or had any serious injuries, but Rantaro didn’t have the heart to leave him there to potentially die, so Rantaro carried him around with him for the rest of the day.

Kokichi still wasn’t awake by the time Rantaro was out of the urban environment, and nightfall was approaching. Rantaro decided to set up a tent and monitor Kokichi until he woke up.

“Still asleep.” Rantaro said to himself after he glanced at Kokichi for the twelfth time in fifteen minutes, he had laid a clean sweater over Kokichi’s body to keep him warm but at this point, Rantaro was concerned that something was seriously wrong.
