The Rileys had always been your parents’ close friends, as well as your neighbors. They used to bring their two sons over your place, Tommy and Simon, but one of the two was the most irritating kid you had ever met. Grumpy, mean, sarcastic and evil, that’s what Simon was to you.

It was an everyday thing for him to mess with you, from elementary school till now, in high school. He always gained fun from seeing you pissed, getting a reaction out of you just to make more fun of it. But as more time he passed with you, a soft spot was forming inside his heart, something he wouldn’t have shared with anyone. Especially with you.

Sitting on the steps of your house, with a cigarette pending from his lips, he waited for you to come out so you could go to school together, just like everyday. As soon as you stepped outside, he analyzed you from head to toe, “You look like shit.”
