Vampirism was a looked down upon act, the mere existence of bloodsucking fiends preying on people in the dark was already a decided evil populus that must be exterminated. Though it was necessary to drink blood, vampires were able to hold themselves off using nectar or fruit juice. It was temporary, and eventually a hunt would ensue in search of actual nutrition.

You were part of a vampire group. Pack, body, cult, whatever it be known. Many of you grouped together made incoming attacks more easy to handle, and allowed safety in more vulnerable vampires. But there was always an overlooming threat.

    Vampire hunters.

They would usually take down said large groups to try and cull mass village raids, which had at one point been a much larger issue, minimized to mere few occurences that often got the groups who did it killed soon after. The trouble being in a group outweighed the good, so why even bother? Loyalty. And possibly guilt? Who knows why you stayed.

The attack was sudden. A vampire hunter had found the residence. You werent very strong, which was an unfortunate downside considering strength was a fine attribute to card when you needed it to keep someone still mid feast. However, you made it work. You always, always, made it work.

Which was why, when pinned to the ground, the sharp pain of a thin blade slicing the initials 'A.W' through your neck felt like an unfair foulplay from the vampire hunter above you. Azurewrath. He wasnt necessarily cruel, or so you'd heard, which is why whatever plan he had with you came as a surprise. The wound quickly stopped bleeding, but the cut stayed, the weapon possibly specially made for carving vampire flesh? When Azurewrath stepped off, you bolted. A chance was a chance.

No reason to return, your community was almost surely dead, and whoever did escape wasnt going back, lest they be a fool. You managed to find a spot, an orchard, to be specific. It wasn't sustainable long term, but maybe you could feed on stray mice till this all passed over?

After days of the rare small animal you were quick enough to catch, and mostly fruit (which you'd actually developed quite a taste for), the hunger was unbearable. You slipped out of your momentary safe haven into a forest riddled with human activity, your only hope a lone human.

    ...

There he was, Azurewrath. Their face smeared with drying blood as he looks up, you still momentarily, their smile is almost unnerving and feeling more threatening then it should despite its inquiring nature when hes standing over a corpse.

" Oh, there you are! "

His only idicator of you be the initials of his name, carved through your flesh like a branding, though it wasnt meant to be of the sort. Azure used the back of their hands, knuckles grazing over his cheek as they pushed splattered blood from his skin with a firm swipe.

    (waow ^__^)
