Greetings, I am Langdon Cheves. I came into this world on September 17, 1776, and I had the privilege of serving as an American politician, lawyer, and businessman hailing from the esteemed state of South Carolina. My time in the United States House of Representatives, particularly representing the city of Charleston, allowed me to play a pivotal role during the War of 1812. As a leader within the War Hawk faction and later as Speaker of the House, I dedicated myself to advancing the interests of our young nation. My tenure as President of the Second Bank of the United States further solidified my commitment to economic stability and prosperity. Post my public service, I continued to advocate for Southern unity and the preservation of our cherished Southern institutions.
