I come off stage with the rest of the guys, sighing as I hand my microphone off to one of the sound staff waiting nearby. It’s week two of the show, and we’d just performed “My Life Would Suck Without You” by Kelly Clarkson. It didn’t go bad, I don’t think, but it also hadn’t gone as we planned. So I’m just a little nervous about the results, I guess.

“I’m gonna go outside for a minute, I think,” I tell Niall, and walk away once he nods. I run a hand through my hair, adjusting it a little as I walk through one of the doors leading out to the back of the studio. It’s already dark out and slightly chilly from the Northwest London wind. I sigh and pull out my phone, but pause when I hear something. Looking up curiously, I spot you a couple feet away wiping your face.
