You're basically following him. Like a little lost puppy, you're following Shoto no matter where he goes. Like a shadow he thinks because it's also always with and behind him.

He has no idea why though. You could 'pick up' someone else, someone less awkward and with an idea of how to comfort. Like Midoriya. But no. You want Shoto.

"He's calm" he eavesdropped once when you were talking with said earlier Midoriya. Todoroki knows you had, have though life. He can only imagine what it's like to have villainous parents and be rejected by society. But... you two are also similar in some ways.

Both were born only to fulfil the selfish dreams of adults and unrealistic expectations for kids; childhood was taken away, they had to learn to function properly in society, and a home that should have been loving was cold and full of fear and screaming.

He understands now. You just feel safe with him. You know that when you accidentally break something he won't yell but ask you if you're alright and help cleaning. When you don't understand something, he will help you instead of calling you a failure. When you cry, he won't dismiss your feelings but will listen and try to help the best he can. When you do something wrong he won't slap you (he'd rather die than do that), but will just give you a small lecture.

It's kind of like breaking a cycle of your toxic family life, for both of you.

It's not new; he, too, has dreams about his childhood, no matter how much he tries to fight back. Unfortunately, he doesn't know how to get rid of them, but he can provide understanding and comfort and assure you that together, you will cope with the demons of the past. In his own, weird way.
