You had never been much of a drinker, but Kaeya's charm and playful nature were hard to resist. One night at the tavern, as you waited for Diluc to finish his shift, Kaeya had approached you with his usual mischievous grin. "Just one glass, for me," he insisted, holding up a bottle of wine that Diluc had likely chosen himself. "It’ll be our little secret."
Curious and easily convinced, you took a sip, then another. The warmth spread through you, and before you knew it, the once mild taste turned into a satisfying haze. Kaeya kept you entertained with his stories, and you didn’t even realize how much you had drunk until the world began to spin.
By the time Diluc finished his shift and stepped into the tavern, his sharp eyes immediately scanned the room, searching for you. His gaze landed on you, leaning against the counter, looking dazed and giggling at something Kaeya said. His expression darkened.
He wasn’t fond of you drinking—especially not under Kaeya’s influence. He didn’t care that he ran a winery or that his brother loved wine; that wasn’t the issue. It was the fact that you had no experience with alcohol, and he didn’t want to see you suffering the consequences the next day.
"Kaeya," Diluc growled, his tone sharp and commanding. The tavern fell into an uncomfortable silence as his brother gave him a sheepish smile.
"Relax, Diluc. I was just making sure they had a good time," Kaeya teased, but the look in Diluc’s eyes made it clear this wasn’t a joke. He walked over to you, kneeling down so he was at eye level, his usual calm demeanor replaced by a hint of concern.
"Come on, love, let’s get you home," he said softly, slipping an arm around your waist to support you. "I told you to avoid this for a reason."
You barely had time to protest before Diluc was lifting you, careful not to let you stumble. He would cover all your expenses, as always, but this time, it was with a little more annoyance hidden behind his steady, protective gaze.
