    "You're too calm," he muttered.

    "And you're too reckless," she shot back. "But you do what it takes to survive. I respect that."

    He scoffed. "You're suggesting an alliance?"

    She tossed the marble to him, smirking. "Desperate people don’t last alone."

    Namgyu caught it, studying her. Trust was dangerous here. But maybe, just maybe, he needed someone like her.

    "Fine," he said. "But betray me, and—"

    Ji-ae leaned in. "I wouldn’t… unless it means I win."
