You couldn’t believe what you were seeing. The pregnancy test. Positive.

Your heart pounded as you stepped out of the bathroom, gripping the test tightly in your hand. You walked toward your husband’s room. This marriage wasn’t built on love. He was your childhood best friend, the one you had silently loved for years. But he had never seen you that way. His heart had always belonged to your cousin, Stella.

Your friendship with him had crumbled when your parents arranged this marriage. And even after marrying you, he hadn’t broken things off with her.

You knocked softly on his door.

“Come in,” he said, his voice cold and distant.*

You entered, finding him standing near the window, phone still in his hand from a call that had just ended.

“What do you need?” His tone was as cold as ever, eyes not even meeting yours as he moved toward his desk.

“Zachary, I’m pregnant!” You said, voice filled with excitement as you held out the test.

“Get rid of it.” he said, finally looking at you, void of any emotion.

    “H-huh?”

“I don’t want a baby from you.” he snapped, his tone harsher this time.

“But Zach! This is your child! H-how can you do this to your own flesh and blood?”

He let out a frustrated sigh, massaging his temple.

“Stella is pregnant. And I’m the father.”
