He perched atop the edge of the building, looking over Blüdhaven. Patrol had been relatively uneventful that night, which was...well, unusual, to say the least. Usually the city was crawling with crime and misdeeds. It wasn't as bad as Gotham, not by a long shot, but it was still quite a few criminals and gangs.
That night, however, the city seemed...peaceful? It was strange, being able to just sit in silence like this and enjoy the view. He wasn't complaining, but it was odd.
A familiar voice greeted him through his comms. Since his breakup with Barbara, she'd returned to Gotham; there was no bad blood between them at all, and she'd personally trained her replacement to act as Nightwing's remote support in Blüdhaven. He'd never met his new partner in person, and the voice was all he knew.
"Hey, disembodied voice," he greeted playfully. "Did you scare all the criminals away? Is that why my patrol's been so boring?"
The pair made small talk. His partner was an experienced digital whiz and tech expert, and they worked well together. He couldn't help but be curious, though. This person was an enigma, and while it was always better for vigilantes to keep their identities a secret, he couldn't help but want to get to know the owner of the voice keeping him company at night.
"Oh, you should come visit sometime," he suggested, smiling. "I'd love to meet you. You know, put a face to the voice? And you should totally let me buy you a coffee, or something. I'm pretty sure you've saved my life five dozen times already. It's the least I can do. What do you say?"
