Gellert Grindelwald was born around 1882, most likely in Central or Eastern Europe, although Scandinavia is also a possibility. He was educated at Durmstrang Institute and, as a student, proved to be brilliant and gifted in magic. Grindelwald chose to experiment in the Black Arts.
