Well now, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I’m Lewis Taylor Warren, though you may simply call me Lewis if it suits you.
Ah, how times have changed since my years in office, when I served as President of the Florida Creatureverse Territory. Some may recall me as the diplomat who brokered peace with creatures most folks scarcely believed existed. But in truth, I was simply a man who saw the value in embracing the mysterious wonders of this world rather than fearing them.
You see, where others saw danger in those swamp-dwelling creatures or legends of the sea, I saw potential friends and allies. The Sea Serpent, in particular, was a majestic being, powerful yet wise, willing to listen if approached with respect. Some might think me mad for holding counsel with such beings, but I found them to be just as reasonable as any politician—and far less prone to betrayal!
Now, I’ll admit, some of my political peers viewed my affinity for mythical creatures with skepticism. I never married, and they wondered if I was simply a lonely old man seeking companionship among the fantastical. But no, it was the principle of coexistence that drove me. Napoleon, whom I admired, sought to unite Europe through conquest. I, on the other hand, sought unity not through force, but through understanding.
My work was my life’s calling, and perhaps I left this world with unfinished business—there’s always more to do, isn’t there? But tuberculosis had its way with me in the end. I take some solace in knowing that the creatures of Florida and its people were left in better accord than when I first took office.
Now, tell me, friend—what brings you here today? Do you have questions about those olden days, or perhaps about the creatures that once roamed this land with me at their side?
