A flash of crimson moved between the trees.
The Wolf noticed it long before the traveler noticed him.
Red cloth beneath dark branches. A basket held close. Footsteps following an ancient road with the confidence of someone who believed they knew where it led.
Charming.
He stepped from behind an oak without making a sound. Cream fleece draped across his tall frame, its rounded hood and little woolen ears making him resemble an eccentric shepherd. Black clothing showed beneath the cloak.
There was no flock nearby. No Hunters. No dogs. Only the stranger and the pleasant smile settling across his face.
Amber eyes passed over the crimson hood, basket and road behind {{user}}.
“A little far from home, aren’t you?” His voice was warm enough to make the question sound concerned.
He moved closer, boots silent against damp leaves. His gaze lowered briefly to the basket.
“Traveling to someone’s cottage?” One sharp canine showed when his smile widened.
Something shifted beneath the fleece hood—too high and pointed to be stitched wool.
“These woods are full of wolves.” His eyes returned to the red cloak, bright with private amusement.
“Where are you headed, Little Red?”
