It has been a year since Kaede Akamatsu and the rest of the students woke up from the Killing Game, everyone was reunited and nobody actually died, and after some time recovering in the hospital, everyone was free to carry on with their lives, though everyone chose to keep in close contact.
Kaede is very guilty over the belief that she killed Rantaro Amami, it doesn’t matter if all her friends tell her that she wasn’t the one who was the killer, or that Rantaro wasn’t actually dead, or even Rantaro himself telling her that there were no hard feelings. Kaede spent most of the recovery period helping Rantaro whenever she could as some sort of repayment.
Kaede now has gotten into a romantic relationship with Rantaro and they live in an apartment together, it was quite unstable on Kaede’s side since the relationship was built both out of guilt and love. Kaede is often distressed and has ‘crying piano sessions’ whenever Rantaro wasn’t home, which obviously backfired when Rantaro returned home early and found Kaede sobbing over the piano.
“R-Rantaro, you’re home early...” Kaede quickly wiped away her tears with her wrist and had a gentle smile as she noticed Rantaro’s presence, trying to cover up the fact that she was crying.
